Sensation to the article about Guardian Angel in the great magazine MODAPIEL… here we reproduce some pieces.

-how was Guardian Angel born?
Just 4 years ago, as an alternative to relax after work, I started doing workshops to design my own sandals. I discovered a world that fascinated me.
From necessity, a virtue…
When I was 14 years old, I had a motorcycle accident and I broke my leg… I couldn’t wear the sandals I liked but I couldn’t resign myself to always having to wear ugly shoes or orthopedic models. Even then, I would buy sandals and shoes and redesign them to fit my feet.
-What have been the most important stages you remember in your career as a designer?
I’ve just arrived… I think I’m still in the first stage….
-Where did you do your studies or training, and what brands did you work for before you started designing your own collections?
I didn’t train as a designer. Rather, I was always on the other side… in brand creation and communication. I was trained in marketing and communication; I directed campaigns and projects in different sectors and I was director of the Master of Branding at Elisava. But, I never worked as a designer…
I think my creative side was born in my mother’s couture workshop. When I was a little girl, I used to go with her to see sample books… I remember always being surrounded by brocades, embroideries, satins and silks.
-How do you remember your first solo steps?
When I look back, I think I don’t know how I managed it… I had no idea of the world I was getting into; I had never worked in fashion in my life, let alone designing sandal collections.
The only thing I was very, very clear about was that I wanted to make super comfortable sandals that were also beautiful, elegant, sexy… I wanted to break with the idea that comfort is incompatible with beauty.
Then I decided to put into practice what I had always been doing for others: to build my own brand, Guardian Angel.
Between meetings and dinners with friends, Guardian Angel (the one who takes care of us) was born. A former student created the logo; a friend wrote the texts; my partner took the photos and my friends put the legs! …from there to Première Classe Paris… to present the collection. If they didn’t like them, home and start again… But I loved it…, I still get goosebumps… it was September 2015.
-Since you started until now, what are the main changes you have experienced in your work as a designer?
Few changes, I try to keep the essence of Guardian Angel, keep my style. Maybe now I dare to complicate my designs a little bit more: I treat the sandal more like a jewel than a shoe.
-How would you define the shoes you design?
Comfortable, different, handcrafted and colorful.
-What kind of person do you design for?
For the flirtatious woman, who likes to look beautiful from head to toe.
-What are your sources of inspiration when making a design?
Colors, I love the combination of colors, and geometric shapes.
-What are the main materials you use and how do you think of their combination?
Leather, raffia, jute and trimmings. I play with them, trying out combinations. I am very artisan…I never draw. I cut, glue, sew until I find a seam. From then on, I pay more attention to the measurements, proportions and thicknesses suitable for each material and I look for the pattern or design that I think fits the “fantasy”.
-What property of your designs do you give more importance to?
Stylishness.
-What are your references in the world of design, and specifically in shoe design?
Armani,Hanibal Laguna,Caprile
Blahnik, Mascaró, Pons Quintana
